Deborah Brown, LPS Teacher of the Year

Lyons Primary School 2012–2013 Teacher of the Year is Deborah Brown. A resident of Toombs County, she completed her teaching degree and began her career at the point most teachers are looking forward to retirement at age 49. She attended West Georgia College and then Brewton Parker College where she graduated with honors. Before deciding to pursue a teaching degree, she taught for 12 years at Time for Tots where she enjoyed working with young children. Once she became a certified teacher, she taught Pre-K and kindergarten for 7 years in Montgomery County. For the past 5 years, she has called Lyons Primary her home as a Pre-K teacher. She is married to Harry Brown and they share 3 children and their spouses Lisa and Mark Matheson, Wesley and Zeny Peterson, and Dana and Richard Lawrence. They also share 4 grandchildren Lauren and John Casey Matheson, Samantha Peterson, and Rebecca Lawrence. Deborah enjoys teaching Pre-K, but also loves spending time with her family, reading, and cooking.
