Though Marcella grew up in Wheeler County, she considers Toombs County home. She has many fond childhood memories of visiting relatives here. She graduated as an Honors Scholar from Brewton Parker College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has earned advanced degress - Masters and Specialist - in Early Childhood from Georgia Southern University. Prior to teaching 1st and 2nd grades for nine years at Lyons Primary School, she spent eight years as a 2nd grade teacher at Adrian School of Performing Arts in Emanuel County. She is now serving both students and teachers as Instructional Reading Coach at Lyons Primary. She says that she loves what she does and is blessed to be able to do what she loves.
She is married to Doug Alexander who is a native Bulldog and assistant principal at Toombs County High School. Family life is important to the Alexanders. They enjoy camping with their three children - Carolanne, Jesse, and Adrian. Marcella enjoys books and reads as often as time allows.
