The Toombs Central Junior Beta Club consists of students who have shown academic excellence by being named to the Honor Roll or Star Honor Roll. The group is formed at the beginning of 5th grade, and grades are monitored throughout the year to ensure that the members are continuing to keep up their academic performance. The students are involved in fund raising projects such as face painting, and are showing leadership qualities by providing help to teachers, cleaning the school campus, and heading up a canned food drive for the needy. A mentoring program has begun as well. Each Junior Beta Club member has been given a second grade student as a mentee. The members may help their students with academics or may simply invite them to play at recess.
